The task of reconstruction will be truly immense

The task of reconstruction will be truly immense at Livewire – Amnesty International blogging for human rights.

As we leave after more than two weeks in Gaza, we are still shocked and horrified by the scale of the destruction caused by the 22-day offensive the Israeli army launched on 27 December. The task of reconstruction will be truly immense.

A day in Palestine

Mideast Youth – Thinking Ahead » A day in Palestine.

December 3, 2009 passes, just another day among 365 days of the year. But no day here is boring. I videotape at length (mostly for another project) but put a tiny bit on YouTube to give you a visual to accompany this description since I am still experimenting with video productions but hopefully will get better with time.

Between a Rock and a Hard Place

On December 31, 2009, a march and demonstration is planned in the Gaza Strip to protest the occupation and siege of the territory. Tens of thousands of Gazan residents, joined by hundreds of marchers from the U.S. and around-the-world are expected to take part in this historic act of civil disobedience.
The residents of Gaza today are faced with two impossible choices. Resist through armed struggle, which will surely cause massive deaths, or quietly wait for a start of negotiations, which history has proven will achieve few lasting results.
This first mass non-violent protest is an important turning point for the Palestinian people as it could help chart a course toward conflict resolution. Or it could be a bust!
Between a Rock and a Hard Place is chronicling this experience through the eyes of six participants, three in Gaza, three who will be traveling from the U.S.
This is version 1.1 of a preview series. As new footage is taped over the next month updated previews will be posted.
